🧾 What You Need
(for 6 people — or lots of leftovers!)
-
2 pounds beef chuck — this is a soft kind of beef, cut into big chunks
-
4 potatoes — Yukon Gold are best; cut them into big pieces
-
1 big onion — chop it up, no need to be fancy
-
1 cup beef broth — warm it up a little first
-
1 packet onion soup mix — this is the secret to big flavor
Want a little extra?
You can also add:
-
2 garlic cloves, smashed
-
A pinch of thyme (it’s a tiny green herb)
-
A little black pepper
👩‍🍳 How to Make It
1. Put the meat in first
Put the beef chunks in the bottom of your slow cooker.
2. Add the veggies
Throw the potatoes and onions right on top. Don’t stir — just let them sit there.
3. Make the broth yummy
In a little bowl, mix the warm broth with the onion soup mix. Stir until it’s all mixed in.
Pour this over everything in the pot.
4. Put the lid on and wait
Cook it on low for 7–8 hours (that’s all day)
OR on high for 4–5 hours (if you need it faster)
Big tip:Â Don’t take the lid off to peek! Let the heat stay inside.
🍽️ Time to Eat
When it’s done:
